The VOPEX® S-Video/Audio Splitter/Extender simultaneously broadcasts high-resolution video and audio from one S-Video source to 4, 8 or 16 remote locations using CAT5/5e/6 cable. This real-time system supports remote S-Video displays and speakers up to 600 feet from the S-Video source as well as a local display and speakers.

The VOPEX S-Video/Audio splitter/extender system has two components: the VOPEX-C5SV-x S-Video broadcast unit, which connects to the host device and also supplies audio/video to a local display and speakers, and an XTENDEX® ST-C5SV-R-600 remote unit for each remote display and speakers. The units are interconnected by CAT5/5e/6 cable.

Drive multiple TVs and speakers located in two rooms from one s-video device, using a single CAT5 cable between the rooms. The distance between the TVs and speakers in the two rooms can not exceed 600 feet (183 meters).

“The Duncanville First Baptist Church campus consists of 7 buildings with a total of 100,000 feet of floor space. The goal was to deliver high quality pictures with stereo sound to all buildings and their classrooms.

After evaluating several methods to accomplish this, S-Video was selected as the format for our delivery system. After several meetings discussing coaxial cable, fiber optics, rf transmission and other methods to connect all the buildings, the cost seemed prohibitive for the project.

We then went to the Internet to see if anyone had equipment to transmit S-Video over cat5 cable. We found NTI had such a system that would not only transmit S-Video, but would also do high quality sound over just one cat5 cable and was very cost effective.

The NTI S-Video Splitter/Extender via CAT5 seemed perfect for the DFBC project. We ordered one system and setup a test with side-by-side monitors, one at the source and one through the Extender with 500 feet of cat5 cable. To the untrained eye there was no difference in the two pictures.”
